The Story Behind TNB Hotels

Founded in 2012, TNB Hotels is a hotel ownership and development group built on strategic growth, trusted partnerships, and a people-first approach to hospitality.

What started as a two-person partnership has evolved into a multi-property operation spanning the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest U.S., and Canada — with properties under some of the world’s most respected hotel brands, including Marriott International and IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Back in 2012

The story of TNB Hotels begins with two longtime friends, Ted Nager and Jay Nijjer, who in 2012 partnered to acquire their first two properties: the Candlewood Suites Boise and Candlewood Suites Meridian in Idaho.

These foundational acquisitions not only marked the beginning of TNB’s portfolio — they also kicked off the formation of a team culture built on performance, trust, and shared success. It was during this early chapter that the company welcomed future leaders including Amber Rodriguez (now VP of Sales and Marketing), Chris Troxell (now Meridian GM and Regional Director), and Jason Ball (now Director of Operations).

Expanding the Portfolio: 2015 – Ontario, Oregon

In 2015, TNB made a key strategic move by entering the Oregon market, forming a partnership with hospitality veteran Robert “Bob” Quinn. Together, they acquired and renovated the Holiday Inn Express in Ontario, Oregon — a property that would set a precedent for high-quality, value-add investments and brand-forward renovations.

Entering the Southwest: Arizona, 2016

By 2016, TNB was expanding beyond the Pacific Northwest and into new territory. A major acquisition in Arizona introduced TNB to a more diversified market and included a significant renovation of guest rooms, meeting spaces, and restaurant facilities. The project led to the creation of an in-house restaurant concept, The Glowbal, further showcasing TNB’s innovation and guest-focused strategy.

A Milestone in Utah: 2018

Next came Utah. In 2018, TNB acquired a Comfort Inn property with the vision of converting it into a Four Points by Marriott in Salt Lake City. After a substantial renovation and rebranding process, the property became a strong addition to TNB’s growing Marriott portfolio and solidified the company’s development expertise in select-service hotel conversions.

A Double Win in Bend: 2020

On January 1, 2020, TNB returned to Oregon — this time in the high-growth market of Bend. The acquisition of both the TownePlace Suites Bend and Fairfield Inn Bend marked another dual-brand success.

Despite facing the operational challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, both hotels emerged stronger, with the TownePlace Suites undergoing a renovation slated for completion in Spring 2024.

First Canadian Property: Airdrie, Alberta – 2023

In 2023, TNB Hotels made its first international move — one that felt close to home. With both founders originally from Canada, the opportunity to acquire a Days Inn in Airdrie, Alberta — just outside Calgary — aligned naturally with the company’s roots and growth strategy.

After a successful renovation and rebranding process, the hotel was officially converted to a Fairfield by Marriott, marking a major milestone in the company’s expansion into the Canadian market.
